In this month’s a week in the life we speak to Nathan Gibson.

Nathan is an Application Support Analysis here at HNC, and we find out what his key responsibilities and duties are, as well what he enjoys most about working for the company.

How long have you worked at HNC?

I’ve been working at HNC for 10 months.

What is your job title?

My job title is an Application Support Analyst.

What are your main responsibilities and duties at HNC?

My primary responsibility is to work together with my team in dealing with problems and changes that the users of our ViewPoint application encounter.

This can range from adding new users to enable them to use the application to troubleshooting network and interface issues surrounding ViewPoint.

What does an average week look like?

On a day-to-day basis I start my day by setting up an audit I am currently responsible for across all NHS trusts using our application, once the audit has been set up I can let it run in the background while I continue with my primary role on the support desk.

We currently employ a hybrid work-from-home and in-the-office schedule where we are working from home for three days a week and are in the office two days a week.

What do you enjoy most about working at HNC?

The thing I enjoy the most about working at HNC is that while I’m doing a Cyber Security degree alongside working here it helps with my understanding when I read things to do with networking.

I can actually see these things on a day-to-day basis and really get an understanding of what I’m reading about for my studies, this always works when I encounter something at work I then come across that in my studies and already have an understanding of it.

How has the business developed since you started?

Although I haven’t worked here for too long it is clear to see that with the consistent flow of existing customers upgrading the software we provide them and a number of new customers opting to purchase our software the business is growing in a positive way.

What excites you the most about working at HNC?

Having come from a completely different line of work but always having an interest in IT, getting the opportunity and insight from colleagues to learn the technical aspects of our role sparks my curiosity and motivation to want to grow my knowledge and understanding of our business.

Where do you think HNC will be in five years’ time?

I think HNC will still be going strong in 5 years if what I have seen in the last 10 months is anything to go by!
